Create a Website
To get started just follow these easy steps.
- Go to WordPress.com and click the “sign up now” button and complete the form for you account and click “next”. Watch a video on setting up your WordPress site.
- Create your blog/website.
- Fill in the blog domain. An acronym for your local association will work well. You may try adding a “My” to the beginning if the name is already taken.
- The blog title should be your Local Association Name.
- Click “sign up”
- Confirm your email and complete your profile.
- Login to WordPress.com with your new account.
- Click the “My Dashboard” link at the top of the page.
- Click on Users on the left hand menu.
- Add illinoiseducationassociation@gmail.com with the role of admin to your blog.
- Now let’s change the theme (design) of your WordPress website.
- On the left hand menu click on “Appearance”, and then “Themes”.
- The default theme is “Twenty Ten”. There are several good themes for your site and each has different options. You can choose any of them or use the IEA Customized theme named “Enterprise”.
- Once you have found a theme Click “Activate” to apply it to your site.
- If you chose to use “Enterprise” theme, Download and save this IEA Custom Header Image to your desktop by right click and selecting “Save target as” or “Save Link As“.
- On the left hand menu under “Appearance” click “Header”.
- Browse and upload the image you just saved to your site.
- Change the Header Text Color to white
- Click “Save Changes”
